PLANNING AND BUILDING REGULATIONS IN WANSTEAD
Wanstead is in the London Borough of Redbridge. The historic heart of Wanstead around the High Street and the park is a conservation area, where changes to the front of a house and its roofline are more tightly controlled. Many side return and rear extensions on houses elsewhere can go ahead under permitted development, but flats and maisonettes don’t have the same rights. Because most terraces share walls, the Party Wall Act often applies, and we’ll explain what’s involved before work starts. We work with your architect and building control from start to finish.

Can I stay at home during a side return extension?
Many clients do, though there will be a period without a working kitchen. We’ll plan the programme to keep disruption as low as possible and agree it with you upfront.
